This week, we wanted to take a break from all of the serious movies we’ve been watching recently, and looked to a tale of intelligent sheep. This could be classified as a kids movie, but it might also be for those looking for a light watch. The Sheep Detectives (2025), directed by Kyle Balda.
It’s September, and to celebrate the fall season, we are doing a month of David Lynch movies. Lynch is criminally under represented in the Top 250, so we wanted to honor the legendary film maker with a run of some of his most acclaimed work. This week, we watch Lost Highway (1997).
This week, we kick off the halloween season by watching the cult classic that nearly got buried during its initial release. Midsommar takes obvious influences from this movie, which plays more like a mystery / detective drama, although there is at least one moment that will make your stomach drop. The Wicker Man (1973), directed by Robin Hardy.
This week, we watch Nicholas Cage look for his stolen truffle pig. Cage dials down his usual over the top performance to something more grounded, and in doing so delivers one of his best performances in years. Pig (2021), directed by Michael Sarnoski.
This week, we watch the mind-bending thriller that begs to be viewed more than once. Leonardo Dicaprio is a detective that is about to blow the lid off of a government conspiracy located within a mental institution on a remote island off the coast of Boston...or so we are lead to believe.! Shutter Island (2010), directed by Martin Scorsese.
This week, we watch the suspense/thriller about a psychotic socialite who proposes to a stranger (on a train) the idea about swapping murders - an idea he plans to implement - Strangers On A Train (1951). Directed by Alfred Hitchcock.
